Calvin’s jewelry is made with traditional old techniques, he makes everything by hand, including hand cutting his bezels. He only uses high quality natural stones in his work. Calvin Martinez creates his jewelry in the pure style of the first Navajo silversmiths. His clear, substantial pieces, featuring the best gem grade turquoise, speak eloquently of the very nature of the Navajo: unassuming people with strong convictions about their place within the balance of nature. Calvin brings this attitude of quiet strength to each of his creations.
SONORAN GOLD CHARACTERISTICS
Its distinctive colors are aqua blue, lime, bright green, and even a two-tone blue and green. Best of both turquoise worlds. In addition, the Sonoran Gold turquoise also showcases golden to brown matrixes. Sonoran turquoise comes from the Campitos mine located outside of Cananea, Sonora, Mexico. The unique thing about Sonoran turquoise is the way that it is mined. While most turquoise is found in veins in the mine, Sonoran is unique because it is often found in clay deposits as nuggets.
