Noel Espinoza was born in Parral, Chihuahua, Mexico. In his signature style he paints with simple beauty the things he knows best: the people and places of Old Mexico. He portrays them in an ideal light, at their best and brightest. Viewed through the eyes of the artist, we share a vision of Mexico as colorful and as vivid as a memory.
The creative impulse has always been with Noel Espinoza although he has never sought formal training. His artistic education consists of hard work and extensive travel around the world. He has made art since childhood, but only began to receive recognition for his efforts later in life. Espinoza has never relied solely on his art for his livelihood, yet through the years he has been able to devote more and more time to his passion for painting. He has always painted in a realist, impressionistic style.
Traditional artistic values that have served artists for centuries still have meaning to Espinoza. For him, the formal elements of art – form, texture, line, value, color – must be mastered and understood as the building blocks of any fine painting. If proficiency with these elements is in any way lacking, the viewer will notice immediately.
Espinoza loves to envelope his subjects in a rich atmosphere of light and color. The people in his paintings are not simply picturesque props, but people for whom he has great feeling. It is this emotional attachment to his subjects that Espinoza feels is most important to the success of his work.
Noel Espinoza’s paintings and sculpture are represented in many private and corporate collections in this country and abroad. He has been honored with more that eleven one man exhibitions at the El Paso Public Library, Americana Museum, Oklahoma City University andhe has exhibited frequently in group exhibitions regionally and nationally.
