Kris Henderson began her professional artistic career as a muralist/decorative painter and is a relative newcomer to the canvas art scene.  She exhibited an early propensity for drawing and painting, thus receiving private art instruction in the U.S. and abroad and reaping the benefits of an excellent art program in school.  Upon college graduation, Kris pursued an artistic career as a muralist. Her works have appeared in numerous homes and businesses throughout the U.S. and have been featured in numerous magazines, newspapers, and television, earning her various awards and acclaim. Henderson was featured in the September 2020 issue of Southwest Art. This extensive experience in artistic expression was a stepping stone towards fulfilling her dream of creating canvas art focusing on the unique beauty and the well-being of the animals of this world. She now travels extensively to wildlife preserves, zoos, and ranches to visit, study, and photograph these magnificent creatures, using the photos as resource material for the majority of her paintings.  She is so devoted to the welfare of these animals that the sale of each piece affords her the opportunity to donate a portion of the proceeds to the facility that cares for the animal featured in that work.

"The passion for creating is the sine qua non of the artist and I find my passion is inextricably linked with my love for animals.   As the daughter of a veterinarian and an artistic mother sharing a concern for the welfare of all animals, this devotion seems to be a part of my family's DNA.  By virtue of my art, I desire to portray what incredibly fascinating creatures they are in their own right, and given the chance, how vastly they enrich our journey and how we are able to enrich theirs as well.” 

Kris hails from Texas and resides in Frisco, along with her husband and their four rescued kitties, who have decided she and her husband can stay.
