Henry Cardenas is an award-winning artist known for his enchanting paintings and sculptures. He is a native of and resides in San Antonio, and he earned his MBA in Business Administration from St. Mary’s University. He has painted vivid landscapes and abstracts and created unique sculptures most of his life. He creates intriguing sculptures of metal, wood, and glass or stone combinations. His art inspirations began as a young child, when he started drawing, painting, and making toys.

Henry is a resident artist at The Little Studio Gallery in historic downtown La Villita, San Antonio, TX. Celebrating over 50 years, Cardenas maintains a continuing exhibition of his exciting paintings and unique sculptures. With numerous juried competitions, Cardenas has exhibited his paintings and sculptures with winning entries in many venues. 

Cardenas is one of twelve Texas artists selected as “Texas’ Premiere Contemporary Artists.” The University of Texas at San Antonio has twenty-two of his paintings and sculptures in its permanent collection. Cardenas has been featured in publications such as the prestigious New York magazine Fine Art Connoisseur, Texas Highways Magazine, the Travel Host, The Art Lovers’ Cookbook, the San Antonio Express News, and various San Antonio tourist publications. The San Antonio International Airport exhibited his paintings in 2018. For several continuous years, Cardenas has exhibited at Arthritis Associates in the SA Medical Area, with new paintings exhibited each quarter. 

Henry is proud to also be represented by The Adobe Fine Art, Ruidoso, NM, the San Antonio Artists Collective, San Antonio, and the Hendricks Gallery in San Antonio. Cardenas has paintings and sculptures exhibited continuously in his own gallery. “I get my inspiration from 50+ years of traveling to West Texas, the Panhandle, and the entire states of New Mexico, Arizona, and southern Colorado. Over the years, I have amassed many photos of sunsets, sunrises, and cloud formations. I just love what Mother Nature does in colors and shapes.”
